How Will You Talk to Your Kids About Psychedelics?

As we move into an age of increased awareness and access to psychedelics, its clear that Just Say No won’t cut it anymore. Though drug education in schools has made small strides away from the Reagan-era abstinence only (and ineffective) programming like D.A.R.E, many parents may elect to have these conversations at home. But how do we find the right way to talk about psychedelics?

We asked three amazing dads who work in psychedelics research and journalism to find out how they would approach the topic when the time comes (and we asked them when that time would be). All of them have small children, still a bit young to understand complicated concepts like altered states of consciousness. However, they each spoke about the topic from a harm reduction perspective. Teach them the truth about what these substances do, why it might be a good idea to wait until they’re a bit older to try them, and what things to be aware of in preparing for an experience.

Have a look at our conversation.
